Nick’s Journey

Nick started out after graduating from Cambridge not having a clue what to do next!

All Nick knew was that he wanted to learn how to sell so his first job was working selling advertising space for publishing houses. He ‘smiled and dialled’ his way to becoming a sales manager before being headhunted to work in the City, working in wealth management with high net worth clients.  

Nick loved being in front of clients and selling ‘big ticket’ but had a teeny tiny problem with having a boss so wanted to go it alone…

POKER

During that time Nick had fallen in love with Poker and got good at it. He made the only reasonable choice anyone could and ran away to join his version of the circus and went to live in Las Vegas to play professionally. As you can imagine his parents were thrilled.

Nick made my money in cash games and competed in the World Series, learning the decision making skills that would help him in business for years to come.

 

FUSING HIS LOVE OF POKER AND A BROADCASTING CAREER

On returning to England Nick pursued a career in broadcasting which led him to work as a comedy writer and broadcaster.  As a comedy writer he wrote on over 20 shows including 8 out of 10 cats and Have I Got News For You. As a broadcaster ge hosted poker and sports content and commentated on the biggest poker events on the planet including hosting shows on Sky and Channel 4.

 

HOW NICK CONVERTED £1K INTO £2M

After a few years of broadcasting it became time to make some proper money, so Nick returned to his sales and training roots and started his own business in an industry he loved… with a lot of passion but not much clue about how a business actually worked!

With an initial investment of less than £1,000 Nick started an online training business to help players improve their poker and ‘fell forwards’ as he built it up over 9 years. What worked for Nick is now the content of his speeches today as the business became to be the number 1 poker training company in the UK,Transform my Poker, with thousands of customers in over 60 countries and sales of over £2 million.

Most of his professional time is now spent helping corporates and SMEs grow their businesses through consultancy and development programmes that unlock their people’s and organisations commercial potential

His speeches are his latest passion as they allow Nick to distill the commercial lessons he learned through battles at the poker table and in his businesses as well as what he see working for his clients at some of the countries most successful corporates.
